If you have not yet filled out the papers to ask for child support, you will want to get that process started.  You will need a court order to get child support. To get a court order, do one of the following:

• Apply for free child support services at your local Department of Social Services. Call 800-228-5437 to find out where to apply.
• Do it on your own. Go to a Court Service Center, located in most courthouses, to get help with the court forms. Also see the child support articles on ctlawhelp.org.
